ESL Reading
The reading improvement class is designed to provide intensive and prescriptive reading, writing, and vocabulary support for students who are working toward increased proficiency in English.
Through the modalities of listening, speaking, reading and writing, students will study and practice English vocabulary and grammatical structures for a variety of situations. Students will read texts of varying lengths and genres and will write for varying audiences and purposes. The courses will provide differentiated instruction based on a student’s individual level of proficiency in any or all of the modalities and will serve as a support course for students who require additional interventions to help them find success in content area courses. Students are expected to be able to work independently, with partners, in groups, and participate in whole class discussions, as appropriate.
For more specific information about assignments and assessments, please see the course calendar that will be posted on my website for each 6-weeks. The calendar contains planned activities and assessments. Dates and assignments are subject to change.
Please visit the English Grading Policy link to see the exact grading requirements for the course.
