World Languages Grading Policy
Grade Categories: Each category will contain an adequate number of grades to represent the student's mastery of course objectives.
Performance Grades: 60%
- Presentational Speaking activities
- Presentational Writing activities
- Interpersonal speaking and writing
- Tests
- Integrated Performance Assessments
- Interpretive reading and listening activities
- Daily practice activities
Redo/Retest Policy (assignments completed yet failed)
Students may retake/redo TWO performance grades per six weeks
ONLY if all other required assignments have been completed. Failure to complete
all other assignments will cause the student to lose the opportunity to redo/retest
a failed assignment.
Only one opportunity to redo/retest will be offered. The student must take the initiative
to redo the failed assignment. The redo must be completed no later than 5 school days
after the grade has been posted to Home Access Center. The maximum grade possible for any
redo/retest is a 70.
Should the student fail the redo/retest, the higher of the two grades (the initial grade
and the redo/retest) will be recorded.
Late Work Policy (does not pertain to illness/absences)
Late assignment --> assignments not submitted when due.
Assignments may be submitted one block late for a maximum grade of 70
Assignments may be submitted two blocks late for a maximum grade of 50
Assignments will not be accepted after three blocks have passed
Tutorial Times:
Purpose of tutorials:
- to make up work from a missed lesson/activity
- to ask for clarification on a lesson/activity
- to ask for help on work BEFORE it is due
- to review for tests or quizzes
